RMail => Gmail

There are two ways to get emails to Gmail (push vs pull; A vs B). Method A gets new mail quicker to your Gmail account(s), so I recommend it over Method B.

a) Forward emails to Gmail (or any other email)

Log into RMail

Options => Settings

Under “Mail Forwarding”, tick Enable forwarding

In the textarea underneath, enter your email address(es) you want your RMail to be forwarded to

Click on Save Changes

(Note: I highly recommend tickingĀ Don’t leave copy on server)

b) Get Gmail to retrieve emails from RMail

Log into Gmail

Settings => Accounts => Add a mail account you own

In pop-up window, enter your RMail email address

Click Next Step

Enter your RMail password

Tick Always use a secure connection (SSL) when retrieving mail

(recommended) Tick Leave a copy of retrieved message on the server

(recommended) Tick Label incoming messages: ____@ryerson.ca

Click Add Account

Gmail – Reply to emails as ____@ryerson.ca

Settings => Accounts => Add another email address you own

In pop-up window, enter your RMail email address

Click Next Step

Log into RMail, confirm your request by clicking on the link in the “Gmail Confirmation – Send Mail as ____@ryerson.ca” email sent by “GMail Team”

Gmail – Automatically reply to an email from your Ryerson email address if sent to ____@ryerson.ca

Settings => Accounts

Underneath “When receiving a message”, ensure “Reply from the same address the message was sent to” is ticked
